Québec in Design
On Saturday we went to an exhibition called “Québec Design” at the Design Exchange building, here in Toronto. It was interesting, well presented and worth paying the $5 entry fee. It featured “québécois” print, furniture and product design from the early 1930′s until now. The exhibition is on until October 4, so hurry up Toronto people if you want . . . → Read More: Québec in Design – Exhibition at the DX

A very busy year for Yellow Car Design
We landed in Toronto on the 26th September, 2008… Exactly one year ago. After a very long flight from Gatwick to Pearson we finally landed in this big, unknown city and all we had was a couple of suitcases and a few nights booked at the EconoLodge (in . . . → Read More: 1 year in Toronto, already

Centreville – Toronto Island
We meant to share this picture taken a few weeks ago when we went to Toronto Island but then we forgot, so here it is. There is something vintage about this sign that just make us like it. It is what it is and it’s not pretending to be “cool, design and modern” . . . → Read More: Good old 1970′s hand-painted sign

Street Art – Toronto
We came accross this the other day and at first thought that it was a graffiti on top of another graffiti… But it’s not. When looking at it from closer we can clearly see that it is a big sized surrealist photomontage and that the torn paper effects are part of the whole thing. . . . → Read More: Weird but cool…

owl – illustration
We did this illustration during the weekend to change our minds from the Graphic Standards Manual that we were working on. It turned out as a cute little owl; we’re not quite sure of what we’ll be using it for but we would certainly like to turn it into something. Maybe we’ll get it printed on . . . → Read More: Illustration of a owl

Here is the story: our journey from home to work involves going through Union Station, here in Toronto. Mr. & Mrs. Chin – Alessi Brook Street (London)
Alessi is an Italian kitchenware/houseware company that we first discovered while browsing among the million of nicely designed kitchen items sold at John Lewis (yes, browsing through the kitchenware aisles of big department stores is one of our cherished pastimes). We fell in love with their ‘plastic’ . . . → Read More: Alessi – Kitchenware too pretty to use!

Billboard-Solstice Chewing Gum
We came across this billboard during the weekend and were somewhat disappointed. It is as if the designers who did it had a really good idea of ‘hot meeting cold’, but sort of ran out of time in the process so got a classroom of high school art students to do the job . . . → Read More: Solstice Chewing Gum – Ugly Billboard

Crate&Barrel – Nice Truck!
Every time we see this truck (which is quite often given the fact that we live in a condo building on a street of condo buildings where people seem to have loads of money to spend on stuff) we say, in an admirative tone: “awwwww, the Helvetica truck”. And then we stare . . . → Read More: Crate&Barrel – Nice truck
